Facial expression
Voice tone and volume
Eye contact
Intensity (energy)
I would sat this deserves a 9 out of 10 because I did have good body language but yet was a bit nervous. My tone and volume could have been louder. My eye contact was good as well as facial expression. My energy level could have been a bit better.
Preparation (15 pts) 13 points
Knowledge of music
Knowledge of plan
Written plan
Instruments/equipment ready
Recordings/charts/materials ready
I knew the music very well and I had the instrument/equiptment ready as well as the recording all prepared and I also had the sheet music next to me just in case. My plan was easily understood by me as well as my written plan and I didn't think there was much wrong with it.
Delivery of Instruction (20 pts) 18 points
Motivation, capturing attention
Sequencing of steps
Verbal instructions
Questioning
Pace of lesson, flow, transition
Flexibility (ability to diagnose and adjust)
Feedback to the learners
Continuity/focus of lesson
Closure
Even though my lesson wasn't everything we were supposed to or more advance I believe it was very good. I was able to motivate and get the students attention with singing the song for them as well as having them sing with me. The sequence of step by step verbal instructions were pretty clear. I was able to easily ask them questions or answer their questions. The pace was a bit fast and I will work on this. I will also be working on flexibility as I have more time to teach to maybe get them to understand the singing better and have them sing in their headvoice. It was very focused and I was able to do closure very easily with them.

When I was doing this I believe the things I found the most difficult was that I didn't find the best recording as well as the room was small. I think I should and could have explained a found better. I believe the class did well as a class even if they were a bit confused. If i were given a second chance I would have more in depth moves but I would still keep the round because even though it may have not been in the book I have been doing rounds basically since I was in 1st and 2nd grade.
I have to remind you again that the average 1st and 2nd grade students cannot keep in harmony. You can't teach a lesson to a group of students just because you were able to do that when you were at that age level. You have to consider what is the best for the majority of people. You have to remember that you are not going to teach MUSIC... it's music teacher's job to do that. Your job is to integrate music into a classroom activity. In order to teach ROUND,you will have to prepare the students for necessary concepts/skills before they can fully understand what a round really means. It is not as simple as you think. I hope you will understand this point.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if you really understand the meaning of round you will know that there's hardly any such recording accompaniment that can be used to accompany children's singing in round. Round is best sung a cappella. You should know better if you are really experienced with singing it...
