With watching our peers do lessons gave me some good ideas for my future in teaching and seeing how differnt groups did different things were quite impressive. I learned it is better to have some ideas of what you want students to do up on the board first and then go off of it. Also we must summarize waht we are doing
It is good for me to learn this so that i can link it to my furture teaching. With kids this young i will be prepared for mew ideas and that i may have to change something right on the spot and that is ok too. All these things i have learned in class

As a group we decided to have everyone bring 2 books and then we chose from there. The book we chose happened to be one of PJ's and it was the perfect book. We read it over and over again and then took our ideas and began to build off of it. The main thing that was the biggest challenge was trying to assemble the lesson plan. I volunteered to do the lesson pland so it was hard to get it togetehr. I was unable to get onto the discussion board seeing my name wasn't attached so I emailed everything to complete waht needed to be done. Before class friday we came together and did the lesson a few times through. Everything went pretty smoothly and I wouldn't change much at all

The worksheet also started talking about a cultural lesson.
For my Multicultural lesson I am thinking of doing an Irish culture. I want to do this because I am mostly irish so it is apart of my life. I have always enjoyed Irish music mostly that of celtic woman and the irish tenors. I believe this will allow me to learn more about my culture too

teaching
Musicianship (5 pts) 5 points
In tune, accurate pitch
Accurate rhythm
Appropriate tempo
Phrasing
Expression
I would alot my self in all of these areas within musicianship because I had the correct tune and pitch as well as the appropriate rhythms and tempo. The phrasing was easily done because the some is very simple and easliy done. Expressions in the different spots were good as pitches changed.
Leadership (10 pts) 9 points
Body language
Facial expression
Voice tone and volume
Eye contact
Intensity (energy)
I would sat this deserves a 9 out of 10 because I did have good body language but yet was a bit nervous. My tone and volume could have been louder. My eye contact was good as well as facial expression. My energy level could have been a bit better.
Preparation (15 pts) 13 points
Knowledge of music
Knowledge of plan
Written plan
Instruments/equipment ready
Recordings/charts/materials ready
I knew the music very well and I had the instrument/equiptment ready as well as the recording all prepared and I also had the sheet music next to me just in case. My plan was easily understood by me as well as my written plan and I didn't think there was much wrong with it.
Delivery of Instruction (20 pts) 18 points
Motivation, capturing attention
Sequencing of steps
Verbal instructions
Questioning
Pace of lesson, flow, transition
Flexibility (ability to diagnose and adjust)
Feedback to the learners
Continuity/focus of lesson
Closure
Even though my lesson wasn't everything we were supposed to or more advance I believe it was very good. I was able to motivate and get the students attention with singing the song for them as well as having them sing with me. The sequence of step by step verbal instructions were pretty clear. I was able to easily ask them questions or answer their questions. The pace was a bit fast and I will work on this. I will also be working on flexibility as I have more time to teach to maybe get them to understand the singing better and have them sing in their headvoice. It was very focused and I was able to do closure very easily with them.
Total Points 45 points
When I was doing this I believe the things I found the most difficult was that I didn't find the best recording as well as the room was small. I think I should and could have explained a found better. I believe the class did well as a class even if they were a bit confused. If i were given a second chance I would have more in depth moves but I would still keep the round because even though it may have not been in the book I have been doing rounds basically since I was in 1st and 2nd grade.

Then to help up develop teaching skills effectively we went over the evaluation form. We as a class went through and discussed how to preform each part that was required.
We also learned how to sing a scale we were taught in solfegee and then associate hand symbols.
To practice our lesson plans we went through them with our groups so they could give advice and critique us and throw out helpful suggestions. It is very important that we learn how to teach a lesson plan since we all want to be teachers. By learning how to write lesson plana we are becoming more familiar to what we will be doing as teachers. It is important to be prepared in teaching because a teacher needs to be prepared to do teach otherwise the students will not learn. By being able to come up with our own lesson plan has helped us to incorpert music into non music teaching. Within a school a students need to be aware that there are certain things that must be done and we as teachers can help motivate them. Learning to sing is a great skill for students because it could be a way for them to learn to express themselves.

weekly update journal
This is important to me because i will be using this when I teach. Children need to learn how to incorperate music to dance so that they can express themselves. This is also to help me too improve too.
I need to know these skills so that they can help me help the little ones that most of them need. This will also help me to help them open up. In these types of classes these things are definately needed.
Once chlidren learn these thing after I help them they will be able to be way more creative as well as it helps them express themselves.
10 songs are posted the 1 post b4 this.

week 2 reflection
With the beginning of the second week we did our name rhymes and presented them in class. We learned about steady beat with is a constant repition on one sound. We also learned that it consists of long short long long patterns. Rhythm was another aspect we learned about which consists of the combination of long, short, and silent sounds. We also on friday worked with out recorders and learned the g,a,b potitions of our fingers.
I found this all very intresting since i know alot about music.I never played an instrument but I am understanding this quite well. I am more of a singer and can pluck things out on the piano and it is interesting how chords can be similar. It is important that learn about all of this so that i can tie it in to my class lessons when i become a teacher.
It is important for me to know these things for when I become a teacher i know what to teach and how to. Also i will know how to answer their questions in a reasonable manner and try to explain it the best that I possibly can.
It is important for children to learn this so that the will get a sense of music at a young age. Music in some schools are being greatly impacted with budget cuts. It is not even their fault and they should have to suffer in the least bit.

Journal 1 Music History
When I was in early grade school I remember singing in music class during grades k-2 and it continued into 3-5, I believe I was in choir from grades 2-5. We had the same music teacher all these years. She was very influential with my singing and taught me the basics. When I entered Junior high, music was really no more about singing but just learning. I was in the choir then my 7-8 grade years. I realized with that joy I got at my younger age music was in my life.
High School though changed my life. I was in the intro choir my freshman year followed by sophomore year I was in Womens Concert Choir and last but not least junior and senior year Mixed Concert Choir. Each level was completely different and got much more challenging. Besides just the classes I took private music lessons during my lunch hour from sophomore – Senior year. Also when I was a freshmen I was in something called show choir and my groups name was NOVA. Even though I was picked just to help the first year I still sang the music and helped set up and take down during competitions. Then the other 3 years I was in the group right out there on stage performing the best that I could possibly do. Also on top of class, lesson, and show choir, I was apart of our musicals. I was in 3 of the 4 musicals during high school. My senior year we did Cinderella and I was casted as the evil step mother. All these thing in high school will certainly stick with me the rest of my life.
On my free time I will listen to my Ipod or even if I am out I plug in my Ipod. I have over 3200 songs on my MP3 player along with movies and some tv shows. Within my Ipod I have every type of music genre in there except Rap. That is the only one that I rarely ever listen to because I don’t really like it. But besides just my ipod, I own over 200 cd’s from way back when, when I was growing up before MP3’s began coming out. My favorite on though would happen to be Country. I have a few groups/ artists that I listen to the most and have been to a few of their concerts. These artists and groups would be: Taylor Swift, Tim Mcgraw, Faith Hill, Shania Twain, and Rascal Flatts. I have seen some of these people perform multiple times. These occasions have been my favorite. I happen to listen to my ipod almost on an everyday basis if possible.
This first week back at school was interesting, it was nice to go into a room during music class and have basically a nontraditional class. I have never had a class like this and this makes this even more fun then I expected. Two of the activities that I found interesting was where we would at first walk in a circle and then stop and be directed to do something and then start up again. Then the second day we got out of the circle and did the same type of thing. Then the name game song we did with the little money was very fun because like little children we needed to get out of our comfort zone and work to learn every ones names and faces. The chant that we sang helped a lot because like little ones we didn’t remember it at first but then as time went on and the more repetition we learned it and sang along. These 2 activities are important to children in the fact of at a young age they don’t like to be alone and they need some help. We demonstrate for them and they will learn. They will then feel more comfortable for even them to speak up at learn more about things. Then with the name game they will catch on fast and come out of their shell they may have and begin to make friends. Going into a new place and a new environment for little ones isn’t easy and maybe with this name game It will help out profusely.
