This week we didn't do much learning of new info for the semester but we did however see the rest of the groups perform and learnd some nifty ideas. My group wen again for some extra credit and so that it could be recorded. We also did a lesson to do with tempo and dynamicsand also some movement

With watching our peers do lessons gave me some good ideas for my future in teaching and seeing how differnt groups did different things were quite impressive. I learned it is better to have some ideas of what you want students to do up on the board first and then go off of it. Also we must summarize waht we are doing

It is good for me to learn this so that i can link it to my furture teaching. With kids this young i will be prepared for mew ideas and that i may have to change something right on the spot and that is ok too. All these things i have learned in class

As a whole the group project went very very well. Everyone brought something different to the group and did different jobs. Every member of the group did something different and brought different ideas when we came together. Even though we weren't able to meet up outside of class we came up with something interesting.
As a group we decided to have everyone bring 2 books and then we chose from there. The book we chose happened to be one of PJ's and it was the perfect book. We read it over and over again and then took our ideas and began to build off of it. The main thing that was the biggest challenge was trying to assemble the lesson plan. I volunteered to do the lesson pland so it was hard to get it togetehr. I was unable to get onto the discussion board seeing my name wasn't attached so I emailed everything to complete waht needed to be done. Before class friday we came together and did the lesson a few times through. Everything went pretty smoothly and I wouldn't change much at all

This week we learned about storytelling and associating music to it. We read the story all the way through and then read again with musical instruments. I think this is able to help children associate words with possible sounds that could be done to convey a word association. I happened to miss class wednesday and friday so I cant answer the other parts of the questions so i am sorry

JOURNAL

This past week we did something new in music class we did many story reading activities. Using music in these activities will get get students more involved. This happens because they are assigned different noises which makes them have to listen to the book. Making the different noises or singing a song at a specific point allows students in the classroom to be involved instead of only the teacher talking and have little involvement with the students. This is important because younger children get bored very easily. This will also allow the children to be less fidgety and bored. If it is done differently students will get bored. By doing these such activities it is allowing students to think of what they personally think something sounds like and it makes their brains think of how to make that specific noise as well. With this getting them involved will also help them to help others or even sibblings.

This week as a class we talked about how creativity can affect a child's development. Creativity can help develop the child's imagination. An activity we did to understand this concept more is the "Three Piggies" story. We read this and we had different students take turns comin up with different sounds and wahtnot to the story. I found this activity very fun because I saw how creative people in the class are.Another thing we did this week was go over harmony, melody and rhythm and instruments that are associated with those terms.
The worksheet also started talking about a cultural lesson.
For my Multicultural lesson I am thinking of doing an Irish culture. I want to do this because I am mostly irish so it is apart of my life. I have always enjoyed Irish music mostly that of celtic woman and the irish tenors. I believe this will allow me to learn more about my culture too

teaching

Musicianship (5 pts) 5 points

In tune, accurate pitch
Accurate rhythm
Appropriate tempo
Phrasing
Expression

I would alot my self in all of these areas within musicianship because I had the correct tune and pitch as well as the appropriate rhythms and tempo. The phrasing was easily done because the some is very simple and easliy done. Expressions in the different spots were good as pitches changed.

Leadership (10 pts) 9 points

Body language
Facial expression
Voice tone and volume
Eye contact
Intensity (energy)

I would sat this deserves a 9 out of 10 because I did have good body language but yet was a bit nervous. My tone and volume could have been louder. My eye contact was good as well as facial expression. My energy level could have been a bit better.

Preparation (15 pts) 13 points

Knowledge of music
Knowledge of plan
Written plan
Instruments/equipment ready
Recordings/charts/materials ready

I knew the music very well and I had the instrument/equiptment ready as well as the recording all prepared and I also had the sheet music next to me just in case. My plan was easily understood by me as well as my written plan and I didn't think there was much wrong with it.

Delivery of Instruction (20 pts) 18 points

Motivation, capturing attention
Sequencing of steps
Verbal instructions
Questioning
Pace of lesson, flow, transition
Flexibility (ability to diagnose and adjust)
Feedback to the learners
Continuity/focus of lesson
Closure

Even though my lesson wasn't everything we were supposed to or more advance I believe it was very good. I was able to motivate and get the students attention with singing the song for them as well as having them sing with me. The sequence of step by step verbal instructions were pretty clear. I was able to easily ask them questions or answer their questions. The pace was a bit fast and I will work on this. I will also be working on flexibility as I have more time to teach to maybe get them to understand the singing better and have them sing in their headvoice. It was very focused and I was able to do closure very easily with them.

Total Points 45 points

When I was doing this I believe the things I found the most difficult was that I didn't find the best recording as well as the room was small. I think I should and could have explained a found better. I believe the class did well as a class even if they were a bit confused. If i were given a second chance I would have more in depth moves but I would still keep the round because even though it may have not been in the book I have been doing rounds basically since I was in 1st and 2nd grade.
